"There is a deep longing in the human heart to be fully heard. Sometimes we need to just express how things are without being fixed or analyzed, and in that open space, when we are seen and heard, we soften, we allow, change happens."

In person in Ashland for Ayurveda and Psychotherapy Session
Meet Bonita CarolI graduated with a masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute located in Santa Barbara, California. The focus of the counseling program was on a Depth or Psychodynamic model as well as training in evidenced based therapies, child, family, and couples therapy. The training also focused on Shadowwork, our hidden unconscious as well as contact with psyche which is often called soul which is yearning for expression in daily life. Additional training over the years was focused on Shadow Work, Hakomi, Co-Dependency, Drama Therapy, Inner Child Work, and Voice Dialogue. I did my counseling as a trainee at John F. Kennedy Counseling Center in Oakland California in which I treated many people of diversity, age, and race suffering from anxiety, depression, attachment wounds, marital problems, LBGT challenges, and trauma. In addition, I worked with adults and children with high functioning autism as a registered California State Intern in Sacramento.
I have a 30-year background as a holistic health provider specializing in Ayurvedic Medicine. This experience and training in the mind body connection informs the way that I offer therapy. Our environment, workplace, relationships, and life habits play a part in the bigger picture of one’s mental health. In this way, my approach is integrative and holistic. If you are interested in receiving Ayurvedic therapies as part of your psychological growth and support, I offer this as adjunct therapy sessions and you may be asked to come in for additional appointments per week if necessary. I will offer pulse reading which involves taking/touching your pulse to understand more deeply what is happening on the mind and body. I will ask you for permission if you would like pulse reading.
I believe that there is meaning and purpose to our suffering and with the facilitation of a trained therapist one can find support to move through challenging times, misunderstandings, and crisis. Therapy is also for those who sense that there is more to life. It can help to discover and unfold the person’s full potential and to find meaning and spark a sense of aliveness. I employ a variety of self development tools, stress reduction techniques, Vedic Meditation, and therapeutic models as needed for each individual such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Depth, Attachment, Somatic, Relational, and Eastern methods. I offer individual, couples, and group therapy for Highly Sensitive People, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, autism, grief, and relationship challenges.
