1 cup pitted and peeled sweet thai tamarind. Best to place the tamarind in a few cups of boiled hot water and let soak, then peel and pit. It will be stringy. Throw away the shells and the pits.
6 dried organic prunes
1 tsp Ayurvedic Ghee
about 1 cup pure water
a few pinches of soma salt
a few pinches for ground clove, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, fennel, turmeric, black pepper.
After you shell the tamarind, throw the prune pits out.
Heat the pure water and place the pitted prunes and tamarind and cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes and then simmer for about 20 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients. Blend in a food processor gently just until blended, it should be the consistency of fig jam. Eat a heaping tablespoon with your dinner of kichari and vegetables. The laxative affect should work the next day.
Lauki is full of soma and papaya is full of enzymes.
1/2 cup of Lauki peeled and cut into one inch pieces
1/4 cup Green Papaya, peeled, seeded, and cut into one-inch pieces
1 teaspoon of ghee
1 teaspoon of mum's masala or 1/8 teaspoon each of ground coriander, cumin, fennel, and turmeric
soma salt to taste
lime juice taste.
1/2 cup water
Place lauki and papaya in a pot of the water and bring to boil, bring to medium low heat, and cover. Cook for about 12 to 15 minutes or until both are mushy texture. While cooking add the spices. Take off stove and add ghee and salt. Pour over basmati rice. Lauki cools the heat of liver and papaya aids in digestion. The papaya will be hard and green, it's supposed to be cooked unripe. You can find both in Asian Grocery Stores. This is an excellent dish to add to your Detox and Rejuvenation Day. It's difficult to find any of these organic. So trust your body if it wants to have it.
1 pack of defrosted drumstricks or one fresh one to be purchased at Asian Grocery Store
Soma Salt to Taste
1/8 teaspoon each of tumeric, coriander, cumin, and fennel.
1/2 teaspoon of ghee.
Cook all ingredients in about 2 cups of water on medium for about 20 minutes or until the inside is soft. The outer case is too touch to chew even when cooked. You can suck the inside out like a straw but best to blend gently in a food processor and then strain the tough fibers out using a mesh strainer. Keep the water and inner pulp for the soup. You can reblend the pulp and the spiced water for a smoother texture. Add this soup with lunch or dinner on a detox day
Crunchy Okra and Bitter Melon Chips
Okra binds toxins in blood, liver and muscle tissue and Bitter Melon purifies the blood, liver, and pancreas, also helps balance sugar.
3 Okra Pods cut into thin slices
4 or 5 inch bitter melon cut into thin slices, and deseeded.
2 teaspoon melted ghee
soma salt to taste
1 teaspoon mum's masala or if you are pitta, add 1/2 teaspoon of ground coriander, 1/8 t. of fennel, and 1/8 teaspoon of tumeric
lime juice (optional)
In a bowl, place thin cut vegetables. Toss with melted ghee,spices and soma salt
Spread evenly on a greased baking pan. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or until they are dehydrated and crispy. Remove from pan and sprinkle with lime juice. Enjoy as a snack or side with lunch or dinner.
Cilantro has been shown to detox heavy metals out of the body
In a food processor add
one bunch of fresh cilantro about 1/2 cup
1/8 cup fresh mint leaves
1/8 cup of raisons
one pinch soma salt
1 Tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 Tablespoon soaked almonds (optional)
Grind until a thick paste, you may need to add some water, but not too much or it will be too loose.
