Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and Ayurveda

Are You a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)?

Dr. Elain Aron, bestselling author, researcher, and film director is a pioneer in the foundational research on Highly Sensitive People  (HSP) and found that 20% of the population are considered HSP. This is not a disorder but a unique personality trait that is empathic and perceptive to things in the environment that other people may not notice or be affected by. If you haven’t already seen her documentary, Sensitive, The Untold Story, I highly recommend watching this understand and appreciate HSP.

Is this you?

  • Sensitive to food, delicate digestion, you pay attention to the quality and quantity of food you consume
  • Sensitive to florescent lights – or flashing lights
  • Avoid violent movies and disturbing details of news
  • Enjoy beauty in nature, refinement in the arts
  • Tend to get overstimulated and overwhelmed with too many deadlines and activity
  • Tend to be a good listener, doesn’t enjoy small talk, prefers to have deep conversations
  • Can feel the energy of the environment, if it has a good vibe or not or other details that other people who are not sensitive might not notice.
  • Get easily overwhelmed with INFORMATION OVERLOAD
  • Sense other people’s feelings and moods
  • Your five senses can easily get overstimulated – other people’s perfumes, odors, rough clothing textures, loud noises, over exposure to too much activity/life

If most of these are true, you may be a Highly Sensitive Person.  There’s nothing wrong with you but it may be challenging and overwhelming to live in a non-sensitive world.  I help you with these challenges.  I have found the Ayurveda practices for lifestyle and diet add resilience and nurturance for HSP’s. As an HSP myself, I developed this Ayurveda course with HSP’s in mind.   I found that one to one support with quiet study and small classes in-between are the best way to learn for those who are sensitive.  It’s almost a meditative way of learning, so you can absorb the information and integrate the practice with a quiet receptive mind. I won’t overload you with too much information all at once. We go at your own pace with gentle guidance and direction breaking down the large goal of becoming a coach into small doable steps.  My background is in Executive Functioning and in addition to being an Ayurveda Practitioner for over 35 years, I am also a licensed counselor.  I also taught meditation professionally since 1988.  With that in mind, I have created a learning program that is rejuvenating and expansive.  There’s space to create a learning program that is tailored to your needs so that you feel you can move toward your goals in a way that is progressive, keeps you focused on the program, yet restful.

Ayurveda herbs, diet, and lifestyle also support HSP’s, you will learn Ayurveda for yourself so that your cup of life energy overflows with a sense of free-flowing joy and this makes it life giving rather than life energy draining as many HSP coaches can experience.  This is a self-pace program so you can absorb, study, and journal in the quiet of your home and at the same time take advantage of one-to-one guidance and small classes to stay on track and reach your personal and professional goals.  You also receive a 176-page Ayurveda Workbook/journal PDF to download and print out with worksheets to follow along during the home study course and to track your progress and what challenges are there on the way. Here’s what some of my HSP Ayurveda students are saying:

“I love your course; I am feeling happier and a sense of inner quiet since the first month of taking your course.  I had been practicing Ayurveda for a few years and I hadn’t really felt the benefits so profoundly until I deepened my knowledge by taking your course”. Miki Suzuki Chicago

“I can’t believe how blessed I am to have met Rose Carol in her course. She is curious about life and constantly amazed by the miracle of life”. – Eveline Ang – Singapore

“It was very valuable to have the personal Ayurveda Health Intake and Recommendations right from the start of the course with Rose because it kept me on a healthy track and direction throughout the course. I began to appreciate and love my own sensitivity rather criticize or resist it”.  Rachel Warth – British Columbia
